History: While most people associate Dimetrodon with dinosaurs, it actually predates them, hailing from the Permian period. Pterosaurs followed, first appearing in the Triassic period over 220 million years ago, surviving through the age of dinosaurs. Then came the giants like Stegosaurus, Apatosaurus, and Brachiosaurus during the Late Jurassic period (about 154 million years ago). By the Late Cretaceous period, creatures like Triceratops, Spinosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus Rex ruled the land until the mass extinction event 65 million years ago.
